VPS Snapshots, Backups, and Recovery

Create a lightweight disk snapshot or a full backup from the Backup tab on a VPS details page, then restore it when needed. Restoring irreversibly overwrites the current disk. True snapshot support depends on the provider.

Create a snapshot or backup

  • Sign in to the console, open the VPS details page, and select the Backup subtab.
  • Select Create in the upper-right corner and choose a type:
  • Snapshot: a lightweight disk snapshot that is quick to create and useful before a change.
  • Backup: a more complete copy that takes longer to create.
  • Optionally enter a recognizable name and confirm. The status remains Creating until the task finishes, and the page refreshes the progress automatically.

Restore

  • Find an entry with the Ready status and select Restore.
  • Confirm the warning: restoring replaces the current disk with this backup, and the overwritten data cannot be recovered.
  • Submit the restore task and wait for it to finish.

Delete

Delete snapshots and backups you no longer need so they do not consume storage indefinitely.

Notes

  • An entry marked Placeholder means the provider for this instance does not support real snapshots. It is only a placeholder and contains no actual disk data. Submit a ticket if you require real backup capability.
  • Before a significant change—such as reinstalling, upgrading, or changing many settings—create a snapshot so you can recover quickly if something goes wrong.
