How to Destroy a VPS (Recycle Bin or Permanent Destruction)

When a VPS is no longer needed, choose More actions → Destroy and either move it to the Recycle Bin for seven days or destroy it permanently. This high-risk action requires your account password and a final confirmation. Permanently destroyed data cannot be recovered.

How to Destroy a VPS (Recycle Bin or Permanent Destruction)

Steps

  • Sign in to the console and open the VPS details page from My Servers.
  • Select More actions ▾ → Destroy.
  • In the dialog, choose a method:
  • Move to Recycle Bin (default): the instance remains in the Recycle Bin for 7 days and can be restored during that time. It is permanently removed after the retention period.
  • Destroy permanently now: the instance is deleted immediately without entering the Recycle Bin.
  • Enter the password you use to sign in to this website. This secondary identity check protects a high-risk action.
  • Complete the final confirmation to submit the task. The instance disappears from the list after destruction finishes.

Recycle Bin and restoration

  • An instance moved to the Recycle Bin remains there for seven days. Open the Recycle Bin page to find it; see Recycle Bin: Recover an Accidentally Deleted VPS for restoration instructions.
  • Destroy permanently now bypasses the Recycle Bin, and the data cannot be recovered. Confirm the choice carefully.

Notes

  • Back up important data, create a snapshot, or download it locally before destroying the instance.
  • Destruction stops future billing. If the VPS is only temporarily unused, consider shutting it down instead. A powered-off instance still reserves resources and may continue to incur charges, depending on the plan terms.
