Bare Metal (Dedicated Server) FAQ
Delivery time, hostname and password, IPs and bandwidth, private networking, expiry, and refund differences — top questions about dedicated servers.
How long until my dedicated server is ready? Why is it slower than a VPS?
Bare metal (dedicated servers) are provisioned by hand in the data center — not instant. Delivery ranges from a few hours to a few days depending on the facility's queue. After ordering, please wait patiently and don't place the order again. Track progress under Console → Bare Metal → instance detail; you'll be notified when it's delivered. See Bare metal delivery process.
Can I set my own hostname and password at checkout?
Yes. You can set the hostname and root password on the order page and use them to log in once the server is delivered. To reset a forgotten password see the Password reset guide.
How do I choose the spec — bandwidth, number of IPs?
On the bare-metal configuration page, pick bandwidth, IP count, operating system and other option groups; the price updates live. Some add-ons (SSL, backup, install service) are optional, while required items are pre-checked. See How to order a dedicated server.
How do I log in after delivery?
SSH in with the hostname / root password you set at checkout; the connection details are on the instance detail page. For out-of-band management (IPMI / KVM), see IPMI / out-of-band management.
Can I get a refund on a dedicated server?
While our engineers haven't started provisioning (the "pending" stage), you can cancel and refund yourself from the order / instance page. Once provisioning has begun, please arrange it via a ticket. For the full policy, see the Refund policy.
Can dedicated servers join a private network?
Yes — multiple machines can talk over a private network using internal IPs. A private network generally requires instances in the same region.
What happens if I don't renew? How does auto-renew work?
On expiry the server stops and is reclaimed after a grace period, the same as a VPS. Renew in time or enable auto-renew (on by default for bare metal), configured in the instance detail.
Delivery is taking too long — what should I do?
First check whether the order is still "provisioning". If it's clearly overdue, open a ticket with the order number and we'll chase the data center for you.
